Black and White Chili

Just threw this together with what I had on hand. I didn't have any onions for the base but it still turned out pretty well.

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp olive oil
1 clove garlic; minced
1 jalapeño; diced
1 can low sodium black beans
1 can great northern beans
1 can no salt added diced tomatoes
1 tsp red chili flakes
2 anise pods
pinch cumin seeds
pinch fennel seeds
salt and pepper to taste

toppings:

sliced avocado
lime juice
low fat jalapeño cheddar
low fat sour cream
scallion 

I'm usually an improvisor when it comes to working in the kitchen. I scan a few recipes and do what feels right. One of my favorite go-tos for recipe ideas is Martha Stewart's Everyday Food. The photos are alway beautiful and inspiring also the recipes are pretty simple and easy to tweak.
